I Can Only Keep Living as a Woman

He used to be a rugged guy who thought even washing his face with cleanser was too much trouble. Then an accident turned him into a woman with soft flesh and shapely hips. From the awkwardness of putting on underwear for the first time to accepting herself with a raised eyebrow and a smile at her reflection; from her confused resistance to the idea of being “conquered” to eagerly pulling out stockings and high heels and treating herself as a gift filled with anticipation.

After marrying the husband she loves, she slowly lets down every defense in the face of his endlessly considerate tenderness: from the tentative excitement of putting on silk gloves, to readily agreeing to new forms of intimacy, and finally to wearing the carefully prepared “battle outfit,” losing herself in the cherished restraint and perfect fit as he adjusts it.

There is no cold coercion, only reassurance; no deliberate people-pleasing, only the thrill of “I want to give you the best.” In her softness and the warmth of cedar, she completes her transformation from “him” to “her.” It turns out the joy of becoming a woman was never about living up to some ideal. It is about daring to say “I want it” plainly, daring to surrender to tenderness, and finally finding, in love, a way of life that is both relaxed and burning with passion.
