Synopsis

"Bamboo Chronicles" is an important chronicle history book in ancient China. It is said to have been written by Wei State historians during the Warring States Period. During the Western Jin Dynasty, it was unearthed in the form of bamboo slips from an ancient tomb in Ji County (now Jixian County, Henan Province), so it is called "Bamboo Chronicles". The book is divided into two volumes, recording the history of the 20 years of King Anli of Wei from the Yellow Emperor to the Warring States Period (some say to King Ai of Wei). The content spans the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties. It is one of the important documents for studying the history of Pre-Qin. The book is organized in chronological order, and systematically records the accession to the throne, relocation of capitals, conquests, sacrifices, disasters, diplomacy and other major events of emperors in the past dynasties. It is also interspersed with myths, legends and auspicious records, embodying the compilation concept of "correspondence between heaven and man" in early history books. The narrative is concise and simple, and the language is simple. Some of the records are different from the "Historical Records" and other handed down documents.
