In years of famine, people are worth less than grass.
Ye Daya and her family struggle to survive as they flee the famine. Just as their last hope is about to die out, she accidentally activates the peachwood bangle her grandmother left behind:
A fairyland space whose spiritual energy has run dry, leaving it with only a daily sign-in function.
Day One, sign-in: half a pouch of clean water and half a piece of coarse flatbread.
Day Two, sign-in: a handful of millet seeds and three wild berries.
…
From life-saving food to improved seeds, then to the occasional fragment of a medical text or martial arts manual…
These meager but steady gifts become Ye Daya’s only means of protecting her family, and even the disaster victims in the region.
She uses seeds obtained through sign-ins to help refugees reclaim wasteland and bring stability to the region.
She uses knowledge obtained through sign-ins to guide a young ruler and finally bring an end to the age of chaos.
When peace comes to the land and a golden age begins, she steps down after accomplishing her mission and sets out alone on a journey, seeking the chance to truly revive the peachwood bangle.
Then one day, she crosses an invisible boundary. The wooden bangle in her hand suddenly grows hot, and an entirely different prompt rings in her mind:
[High-density spiritual energy detected. Fairyland space officially activated…]
[Available sign-in location today: Ancient Sword Grave. Sign in?]
Ye Daya looks back.
The road behind her: a world of hearth smoke and human warmth, with simple joys still close at hand.
The road ahead: a celestial path among the sea of clouds, with the Great Way just beginning to reveal itself.
“My path to immortality began with signing in for a bowl of food for my family.”
“And my Dao will be fulfilled when I sign in a truly peaceful year for this world.”
