Your Majesty, I Steal Your Heart Along With Your Pastries

Momo, a young palace maid in the Accounting Office of the Palace Workshops, delights in stealing snacks from the Imperial Kitchen and growing vegetables in the imperial gardens. But during one of her little “heists,” she mistakes the emperor, Shen Bian, in plain clothes for a young eunuch, then drags him off to share food and asks him to be her friend.

In the inner palace, everyone fears Shen Bian’s cold severity. Only Momo is open and genuine, daring to confide in him and accompany him to the night market outside the palace. The emperor commands a vast realm, yet lacks a single sincere heart. Momo’s arrival is like a beam of light shining into his lonely palace. From a cramped cupboard in the Imperial Kitchen to the lively lantern-lit streets outside, from “Little Bian” to “Shen Bian,” the two, worlds apart in status, grow closer amid suspicion and testing, then stay together through sincerity and steadfast devotion.

This is a chance encounter that blossoms into a bond across class lines, and a story of an emperor and a young palace maid finding warmth and saving each other in the depths of the palace.
