“Do you believe in Buddha?”
“I do.”
Li Yinian looked at the monk before him, raised a hand to point at the layers of karmic sin clinging to him, and said with a laugh:
“Then what of the living beings you claim to save?”
The monk glanced at the mountain of corpses and sea of blood behind him, then slowly replied, “I deliver their souls into my Elysium.”
He smiled, as if he could see countless Buddhas beckoning him.
Li Yinian smiled too, reached out, and twisted the monk’s head off.
“What about you? Do you believe in Buddha?”
“I believe in God.”
“Oh, that’s a fine faith.”
Li Yinian shook the blood from his hand and spoke with a chuckle.
“Then what do you believe in?”
the man asked in return.
“I believe in science.”
Li Yinian looked up at the crumbling Heavenly Court and shook his head.
