In the dream, he personally experienced the joys and sorrows of the twelve beauties of Jinling, and witnessed the decline of the Hehejia Mansion from blooming flowers to "the white land is so clean". Even his ending of finally finding out about the world and becoming a monk was as clear as yesterday.
When he woke up from the dream, he was still the young man held in the palm of everyone's hands. Sister Lin was still buried in the Xiaoxiang Pavilion, Sister Bao had not yet married into the Rongguo Mansion, Concubine Yuan was in the prime of her favor, and the prosperity of the Jia Mansion was still burning. But the blood, tears and desolation in that dream were imprinted in his bones, making him unable to tell whether it was an illusion or reality.
What's even more surprising is that since he woke up from the dream, what he was thinking in his heart has become an "open secret" - Jia Mu, Mrs. Wang, Wang Xifeng, and even the maids and servants in the mansion can clearly hear his thoughts. Jia Mu made a prompt decision and strictly ordered everyone to keep their mouths shut, and a secret war that "everyone knew, but he (seemed) didn't" began.

And everyone in the Jia family, listening to his sometimes worried, sometimes firm, sometimes childish but to the point voice, from the initial shock to tacit cooperation, in the "knowledge" that no one could point out, step by step deviated from the established tragic trajectory.
