This book is based on the reign of Emperor Yi of the Shang Dynasty, and assumes that the Shang Dynasty was not a purely secular dynasty, but an era of symbiosis between "witchcraft and immortality" and "mundane rule" - the royal family mastered the ancient method of cultivating immortality through witchcraft and sacrifice, and maintained the destiny of the dynasty with the spiritual power of their ancestors and the spiritual energy of heaven and earth; among the people, there were scattered sects and tribal witchcraft cultivators, while the grassland tribes mainly practiced "immortality in the way of animals", relying on the power of natural creatures.
During the reign of Emperor Yi, the Shang Dynasty was troubled by internal and external troubles: internally, the royal clan, witch sacrificial pavilion, and immortal sects fought openly and secretly for the resources and dominance of immortals; externally, the Dongyi tribe (Yifang) relied on the "Lingyi Xiuxian Sect" to rise and frequently invaded the southeastern border of the Shang Dynasty; in the northwest Hanhai grassland, there were many tribes, and the wolf tribe was the overlord of the grassland. The wizard of the Wuji Pavilion rumored that "the vision was caused by the impure blood of the royal family, which would lead to heaven's punishment to bring down the merchants." In order to calm down the vision and stabilize the fate of the dynasty, Emperor Yi decided to use the secrets of the royal family to "shoot". "Sky Witchcraft", holding the ancient artifact "Shooting Sky Bow", held a sky-shooting ceremony in the southern suburbs of Chaoge, the Shang capital, in an attempt to drive away the evil spirits and frighten the world of immortality and all forces. This was the "Emperor Yi Shooting the Sky" incident and a turning point in the fate of the protagonist Di Xin.
