My Great-Granddaughter Picked Up an Immortal Ancestor, and the Whole Internet Is on Its Knees

On a stormy night, art student Su Qingyuan takes in an old man named Yun Heqing, who is dressed in rags but carries himself with dignity. He has lost his memory and remembers only that his surname is Yun, so Su Qingyuan temporarily gives him a home in her family’s ancestral courtyard. As they spend time together, Yun Heqing reveals a host of extraordinary abilities: he can repair damaged ancient paintings with a casual touch, identify the age of medicinal herbs at a glance, and move with a lightness no old man should possess. Word of these strange happenings spreads through Qingwa Lane, arousing the neighbors’ curiosity.

Internet celebrity streamer Gao Zi’ang films Yun Heqing “retrieving an object from a distance.” The clip unexpectedly goes viral, and viewers jokingly dub him the “Immortal Cultivator Ancestor.” As public attention grows, clues to Yun Heqing’s identity begin to emerge. The jade pendant he carries bears hidden ancient runes, and retired teacher Ma Wenbo recognizes a connection to a cultivation sect mentioned in old texts. It turns out that Yun Heqing was a cultivation master from a thousand years ago. He was ambushed during his tribulation, his spiritual meridians destroyed, and he fell into the modern world with his memories and cultivation temporarily sealed away.

As the whole internet buzzes, some people accuse them of staging a hoax, others come to ask Yun Heqing to take them as disciples, and even a mysterious organization sets its sights on his cultivation secrets. While protecting the old man, Su Qingyuan helps him recover his memories. Amid the absurd and hilarious business of modern life, the pair gradually uncover the grudges and legacy of the cultivation world. In the end, Yun Heqing regains his cultivation, but chooses to stay in the modern world to protect his great-granddaughter. He uses cultivation techniques to solve neighborhood problems and becomes the “guardian deity” of Qingwa Lane, turning the legend of the “cultivation ancestor” into a warm reality.
