Qinghe, Spirit Guide

The continent of Jiuzhou is divided into the human and spirit realms. A thousand years ago, the two realms went to war, and humanity brutally suppressed the spirit realm, enacting the “Spirit-Slaying Decree” that condemned all spirits to death. A thousand years later, the decree has become deeply ingrained. Human cultivators take pride in hunting spirits, while the beings of the spirit realm either hide themselves or turn into malevolent fiends. The divide between the realms grows ever deeper, and resentment spreads across the mountains and rivers.

Qinghe Village lies hidden deep in the mountains. For generations, its people have passed down the art of spirit-guiding: nurturing spirits with their own spiritual power, dispelling their resentment, and fostering coexistence between humans and spirits. Mainstream cultivators regard this art as “heretical sorcery,” so the people of Qinghe Village have chosen to live in seclusion.
