[Synopsis]
When I woke up, I had become the lowest-ranked hopping corpse in a mass grave.
The System told me this was a dangerous world overrun by immortals, demons, and all manner of inhuman creatures.
Taoist priests wanted to exorcise me, monks wanted to purify me, living people ran at the sight of me, and other monsters treated me like a snack.
But I didn't want to follow the usual path of the dead.
While other zombies drank blood to evolve, I led my underlings in mining and farming;
while other demons and ghosts fought over territory, I was figuring out how to teach skeletons to weave;
while the various factions fought to the death, I opened a “Nonhuman Reemployment Center,” specializing in taking in jobless ghosts, wandering zombies, unemployed skeletons...
Later, my labor district upgraded into Silverblood City.
Elders from the Taoist sect came to inspect it, eminent Buddhist monks came for an exchange, the Underworld hired me to contract out projects, and even the Zombie Royal Court invited me to serve as an “industrial upgrading consultant.”
They called me the “Laborer Corpse King” and described my path as the “Third Way.”
But all I wanted to tell the world's nonhumans was:
“Stop competing so hard and come work for me. We offer full benefits, meals and lodging, and skills training.”
Then one day, the Purifiers' army laid siege to my city, determined to destroy my existence as something that “perverted the Heavenly Dao.”
I sighed and pulled out the final page of the employee handbook:
“Looks like it's time to show the world what the ‘power of workers standing together’ really means.”
