Qin Xiaoxiao is unexpectedly reborn at the age of twenty-two on a "pay-in-installments" plan, becoming an ordinary traffic officer in Lanjiang City. To repay her enormous debt of one hundred thousand merits to the underworld, she binds herself to a Merit System and partners with Shui Qingqian, the ghost of a noblewoman from a thousand years ago. From then on, in her ordinary job as a traffic officer, she draws on her past life's criminal investigation instincts, her newly acquired ability to see spirits, and Shui Qingqian's supernatural perception to solve one strange case after another.
