The genius surgeon Shu Ya died of liver cancer. When she opened her eyes again, she had become Shen Weiyang, the legitimate daughter of the Marquis's estate, being buried alive.
Outside the coffin, her distant grandaunt, Madam Liu, was ordering the servants to nail the coffin shut, while her younger sister, Weixi, pleaded until her voice was hoarse.
Just as the last bit of air left her lungs, she kicked her way out of the coffin.
From then on, the inner chambers of the estate gained a pair of hands capable of lancing abscesses and deciding life or death.
Her grandmother's migraines flare up? Three needles stop the pain.
Her younger sister is near death from an epidemic? Quarantine and disinfection.
A wicked servant tries to poison her? She turns the tables and makes him suffer the consequences himself.
With medical skills centuries ahead of their time, she turns her desperate situation around from inside a coffin, reclaims her birth mother's dowry, opens a women's clinic, and astonishes the capital by operating to remove an abscess. She also joins forces with Prince Jing Xiao Zhi, a war god disfigured and living in hiding. He gives her protection as she investigates her mother's murder, while she heals his physical wounds and inner demons.
Yet her mother's death is connected to the forbidden palace drug “Vulture Feather.” The rise of her clinic touches a nerve among the conservative factions, and opening a school is like striking at the very foundations of their power. Conspiracies spread like a web, from the household to the court, while a vast web marked with “mountain patterns” has been hanging over them for years.
Shen Weiyang stands with a needle in hand:
Whoever harmed my mother, I will pursue them to the ends of the earth.
Whoever blocks my path, no matter how powerful, I will crush.
From a dead soul risen from a coffin to a generation's master physician, she seeks not only revenge, but also a path for the women of this world: a broad road where they can stand on their own merits and save lives through medicine.
Rebirth + medicine + political intrigue: watch her carve out a way to survive in this cruel era with a scalpel.
