The Years I Was Scammed into Going to Dubai

When unemployed young man Lin Xiaoyang is at the lowest point in his life, his high school classmate Chen Hao offers him a golden opportunity: a well-paid job at a five-star hotel in Dubai, with a monthly salary of 60,000 and meals and accommodation included. Facing overdue rent and mounting debts, he boards a flight to the Middle East. But the so-called hotel management job is actually part of an international telecom fraud operation. His passport is confiscated on his first day, the training consists of carefully crafted scripts, and the luxurious dormitory is really a heavily monitored prison. Lin Xiaoyang discovers that the organization not only runs a fraud network, but is also involved in the dark business of organ trafficking.

Caught between victim and perpetrator, he secretly gets in touch with Shen Yuwei, an investigative journalist who has been tracking the organization for years. To gather evidence and rescue more people, Lin Xiaoyang becomes an informant for the police and begins leading a double life inside the fraud syndicate.

From Dubai's skyscrapers to the mountains of Myanmar, from private banks in Switzerland to the Arctic Circle in Norway, he flees for his life with an encrypted ledger full of damning evidence. The true identity of the mastermind known as the “Emir's Assistant” turns out to be tied to a power network spanning three continents.
