My name is Su Xiaoxiao. I’m a Chinese literature student in the twenty-first century, but after dozing off in class, I transmigrated into The Scholars as Hu Yuniang, the daughter of Butcher Hu. It’s the night before Butcher Hu plans to marry me off to the poor scholar Fan Jin. As someone who knows how the original story ends, I’m determined to reform this rigid scholar. I’ll help him pass the imperial examinations and make him a true pillar of society. But I face three major obstacles: my character’s illiterate background, Fan Jin’s stubborn nature, and the harsh realities of the Ming dynasty’s examination system.
