Laying Low in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, I Invest the Gods with Titles

Lin Xuan’s soul is transported to the perilous world of Shan Hai, where he becomes a humble earth god. He discovers that he possesses the long-lost Primordial Investiture of the Gods, which allows him to appoint all things in heaven and earth as deities, provided they have accumulated enough merit or karmic sin. So he resolves to live by one creed: “I just want to stay quietly in my divine domain and appoint gods. You can fight among yourselves all you want, just don’t bother me.” But trouble always finds its way to his door. The mountain and river spirits, aquatic generals, and heroic human souls he appoints as gods one by one become famous far and wide, while he himself becomes the most mysterious figure behind the scenes.
