On the eve of victory in the War of Resistance against Japan, Ou Xiao'an, a Communist underground agent embedded in the Juntong, escapes from a prison inside a Japanese military biological and chemical weapons research facility. He is gravely wounded and falls unconscious along the way, but is found and rescued by the Chinese Expeditionary Force.
