Technological Totem: Zhu Yingying’s Ming Empire

In the fifteenth year of Hongwu, Zhu Xiongying, the eldest imperial grandson who should have died young, gained a soul from the future. To survive amid Zhu Yuanzhang’s suspicions and the cracks in history, he faked his death and worked behind the scenes. Through his father, Zhu Biao, he presented a map showing where sweet potatoes could be grown, developed a simple miracle medicine, and quietly planted the seeds of science.

When he returned to court as an embodiment of the Mandate of Heaven, true change began with the force of thunder. He founded the Institute of Technology and the Academy of Sciences, driving the First Industrial Revolution with the roar of steam engines and binding the empire together with railways and telegraphs. Under the scrutiny of his grandfather Zhu Yuanzhang’s deep gaze, and with his father Zhu Biao’s wholehearted support, Zhu Xiongying wielded technology as a sword and institutions as a plow, reshaping this ancient empire.

As modern firearms swept across the northern steppes and steel fleets ruled the seas, the world’s borders were rearranged by the will of the Great Ming. But this was no end: Zhu Xiongying’s destination was the sea of stars. He turned his gaze toward the vast cosmos, established a base on the moon, and led his fleet toward the galaxy, ultimately elevating a glorious agrarian civilization into a top-tier civilization that could traverse the stars. This is a story about how a civilization, in the hands of one person, breaks free of the cycle of dynasties and steps toward eternity.
