On the first day after losing his job and returning to his hometown, Lin Che runs into a former high school classmate who lives at a mountain temple.

She is as cool and aloof as a bamboo stalk, and exchanges a few polite words with him.

But after he gets home, tidies up, and heads back out, he learns from a neighbor that the young woman died two days ago.

She was found dead at the mountain temple, killed in exactly the same way as the victim of a murder ten years earlier.

A chill runs through Lin Che, and the next day he attends her funeral.

The young woman really is dead...

So who was the person he met?

To find out the truth, Lin Che goes to the police station and explains what happened, but gets nowhere.

That night, however, he discovers a black notebook in his attic.

The cover says: Write a dead person's name ten thousand times, and you can bring them back to life.

Lin Che finds it absurd.

But when he opens the notebook, he sees his own name written all over the first page in red ink.

Shivering with fear, Lin Che gets ready to call the police, but someone attacks him from behind.

A mountain temple, a mysterious young woman, remote mountains, and a string of murders reaching back ten years.

Can Lin Che uncover the malice lurking close at hand...
