22-Year-old Su Mianmian is a specialist in ancient book restoration with mild color weakness. She is nicknamed the "little blind cat" by her classmates because of her blurred vision of low-saturated colors. After graduation, she worked as an intern at the city museum. She frequently made mistakes when mixing paste and unmounting old paintings. When faced with the threat of dismissal, she discovered "Paper Replenishment Notes" which recorded 36 traditional paper replenishing techniques at the old shop in Paste Alley where her grandfather lived.
From then on, Su Mianmian took "Repairing Paper" as a guide, starting from restoring the remaining paintings of the Republic of China, and gradually unlocked techniques such as "Chu Pulp Restoration Method" and "Silk Darning Method". In the process, she met Lu Shiyan, a poisonous cultural relic appraiser. The two initially argued over the concept of restoration as "enemies", but gradually became partners in fighting side by side. Together they deciphered the theft clues in ancient Qing paintings, searched for the lost Jinsu Mountain Buddhist scriptures, exposed the trap of auction fakes, and even went to Dunhuang to restore Tang Dynasty suicide notes.
She also joined hands with her senior sister Lin Wei, old craftsmen and other partners to fight against the impact of chemical pigments on ancient methods, and to clear her grandfather of the grievances he had been falsely accused of. In the end, Su Mianmian grew from a "waste intern" to an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage. She opened a workshop in Budi Alley and recruited apprentices (including a visually impaired boy) to pass on her skills, allowing her grandfather's craftsmanship and ancient book restoration skills to continue in the contemporary era. The cultural relics she restored were also selected as "national treasures", becoming a true "time restorer".
