In the late autumn of 1937, in the black pine forest in the remaining mountains of Langya Mountain, 16-year-old Chen Jinglei witnessed the tragic death of his relatives and embarked on the road to revenge with a gapped hatchet in hand. From the lone and brave young man who passed on information, to the soldier who tempered his gun soul in the Zhangqiu blacksmith shop, to the spy in the secret battle on the canal, and the iron-blooded company commander in the fierce battle in Changling Mountain, he poured his faith with blood and defended his country with guns in the scorched earth of the eight-year war of resistance. He witnessed the tragic awakening of a nation in decline. In the winter of 1950, the wind was as cold as a knife by the Yalu River. Chen Jinglei, already a volunteer, once again put on his armor and led his comrades across the river boundary. The extreme cold of Changjin Lake could not freeze his blood, and the tunnels of Shangganling could not stop his persistence. He led his troops to charge in the ice, snow and artillery fire, using crude weapons to fight against the torrent of steel, and continued to write the loyalty and glory of the military with the belief of "defending the home and the country." When the smoke cleared, Chen Jinglei, who had spent half his life as a soldier, was commissioned to go to Africa without taking off his saddle. On the red soil of a foreign country, he led his comrades and overseas Chinese to open roads in the mountains and build bridges across rivers, resisting colonial remnants and breaking the geopolitical game. He used Chinese wisdom and iron-blooded skills to gather strength and build a new home with Chinese roots in an unfamiliar land.
