The God of Theater: I'm Not Alone

A Shen the Playwright fan novel

Chen Ling first heard that voice in the darkness.

It was faint and sweet, like a child who had just learned to speak, or a sigh buried deep in his heart for far too long.

He thought it was just some unnecessary emotion, so he casually gave it a name:

“Zhiling.”

A Shen the Playwright fan novel

“Zhi” as in “to know,” and “ling” as in “soul.”

But somewhere along the way,

he realized that he and this “Zhiling”

were growing more and more alike.

So alike that even the rhythm of their breathing matched.

Only much later did he gradually understand

why this being, whose name he had gotten wrong,

was so closely connected to him.

Its true name was

Zhiling.

The opening follows the same setup as Red Dust, beginning with the events of Chapter 346 of the original novel.
