Fragments of Frozen Soil

In an alternate World War II engulfed in smoke and fire, Chinese-American soldier Laitole is ambushed by a mysterious unit while scouting behind enemy lines, becoming Subject No. 47 in Siberia's “Project North Star.” In the cold underground laboratory, a nameless female scientist's purple serum and brutal modifications push him to the brink of collapse in agony. A sudden bombing reduces the lab to rubble. Though dismembered, Laitole is reassembled in the darkness by mysterious fragments of power, awakening a faint but resilient telekinetic ability and an extraordinarily clear mind.

Unable to speak the language and with his powers still weak, he drags his scarred body across the frozen wasteland, struggling against subzero temperatures, hunger, and treacherous cracks in the ice while evading the remnants of the lab who are hunting him. He knows nothing of the experiments' true purpose, doesn't understand where the power inside him comes from, and has no idea that other superpowered beings are already hidden in this war. In this land of utter desolation, the once-ordinary soldier can only rely on his survival instincts and newly awakened abilities to carve out a path from the brink of death. His awakening is merely the prelude to a storm of superpowers.
