Fragments of Muye

History is a lie.

The Battle of Muye was not a righteous army acting on heaven’s behalf, but a bloody ritual to exterminate the Dharma. King Wu’s campaign against King Zhou was no fulfillment of Heaven’s Mandate, but a shocking deal with the mysterious Kunlun Pavilion. The price: from the Zhou dynasty onward, the gods of China were imprisoned for three thousand years. The Investiture of the Gods was no path to immortality, but a set of shackles. The power of incense and prayers was no offering, but rent paid by the faithful. Chen Xu, an archaeology student, once believed only in stratigraphy and carbon dating. Then his mentor, Liu Wuya, vanished without a trace beneath the ancient stele on Heming Mountain, leaving behind only a Kunlun Pavilion jade token engraved with the character “Xun” and four words written in blood: “Do not investigate Muye.” Following the clues, Chen Xu and Shen Meimei, an enigmatic heir to the Luo Sect, are forced to enter the buried underside of history.
