[Two female leads | Sapiosexual romance | Ancient political intrigue | Redemption]
Shen Qinghui, a side consort in the imperial harem, is forced to become entangled in a twenty-year-old mystery from the northern frontier. Her investigation reveals that it all began with her father’s empty promise and a bloodstained official robe. Together with Lu Jinghong, the general’s daughter who has sworn to seek revenge, she carries a lamp through lies and truth, crossing the snow of the palace and the sands of the borderlands as they journey toward the truth at the heart of the darkness, and toward each other.
The writing is good and the characters are very real. However, it seems that the author still uses a lot of short sentences and single sentences to describe Shen's state of mind in very tense parts of the plot, which is not conducive to the coherence of the climax plot and makes people a little irritated.
