This book is the classic simplified version of "Journey to the West" and the first romantic chapter-length novel about gods and demons in ancient China. The earliest version is the Shidetang version of Jinling in the 20th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. Research has proved that Wu Chengen is the original author. The novel is based on Tang Monk's quest for Buddhist scriptures from the West. It tells the story of Sun Wukong's birth, his apprenticeship with his master, and his wreaking havoc in the Heavenly Palace. Later, he, Zhu Bajie, Sha Monk, and White Dragon Horse escorted Tang Monk. After eighty-one hardships, he defeated demons and demons, and finally achieved enlightenment.
