The original owner was a temporary worker at the Hongxing Steel Rolling Mill. Less than half a year after her husband died from a workplace injury, her mother-in-law was already eager to “cash her in,” and soon set her up with Zhang Jianjun, an officer stationed with the unit. He certainly had a lot going for him: at thirty, he was already a battalion-level officer.
