Ye Chen, a corporate drudge who is unemployed the moment he graduates, is at his lowest point: his landlord is demanding rent, and he's lost his perfect-attendance bonus. Then he unexpectedly binds himself to an old phone he picked up at a secondhand market. Hidden inside is an anti-tycoon System that forces him to "spend money to stay alive."
The System gives him money every day, but forces him to spend it all within 24 hours. Otherwise, it will take back every bit of his wealth and erase his memories. A keychain hides a mysterious memory card, a pocket watch can slow down time, and even the orange cat in the hallway can talk, warning him that "the System is a trap."
Stranger still, people keep eyeing his old phone. A "Cleaner" in a black suit wants to repossess it, a manager who has been "assimilated" hides a dagger behind his smile, and even his landlord suddenly seems like a different person. When a flying delivery guy hands him a photo pointing to an abandoned clock factory, Ye Chen discovers that the System conceals secrets about "time anchors" and the "rules of the world." And he is merely a pawn in some enormous game.
Spending money is the task; staying alive is the challenge. Hounded by the System and pursued by unknown forces, Ye Chen must play the part of a tycoon "forced to flaunt his wealth" while unraveling every mystery. Otherwise, he will be the next one to be "erased."
