Back to 1990: Starting with Selling Health Supplements

This story is not just about one person's rise against the odds. It is also a vivid portrait of society in transition during the early years of reform and opening up in the 1990s. Through the fates of the protagonist and the people around them, each with different backgrounds and choices, it explores the pain, confusion, and determination people experienced in their beliefs, relationships, and careers as the country shifted from a planned economy to a market economy.
