Records of Strange Cases in the Tang Dynasty: Unsolved Cases

After three peaceful years in Chang'an, a bizarre case that should have been buried beneath the dust of history resurfaces. On the eve of Su Wuming’s appointment as Prefect of Jingzhao, Lu Lingfeng is ordered to investigate a “Blood Wedding”: the bride turns to bones inside her sedan chair, while her wedding dress remains as good as new. What seems like the work of an ordinary supernatural creature takes a sinister turn when they find on the bride’s fingertip the strange orchid-shaped ink mark seen only on the victims of the Chang’an Red Tea Case years ago. More chilling still, carved into the bottom of the coffin is a coded message Su Wuming failed to decipher seven years earlier: “You’re next.” The old case remains unsolved as new cases pile up. Everyone involved who escaped death back then is now being killed one by one, using methods never employed at the time. It is as if an invisible ghost is crossing names off a long-delayed kill list. Then Lu Lingfeng discovers that his and Su Wuming’s names are at the very end of the list. With his closest friend possibly the final target, and someone they trust hiding a lie kept secret for seven years, they must uncover the truth behind the original case, a truth that should have vanished when Sha Si ended, before the real killer completes this revenge spanning time.
