Throughout history, from ancient times to the present, when officials drive the people to revolt, they have no choice but to fight back. When the people are united behind a cause, nothing can stand in their way!
This is the story of bandits in western Liaoning who resisted corrupt officials and defended the innocent in the 1930s, then went on to fight heroically against the Japanese. Jin Buhuan, the bandit leader, and his wife Tieli Hua raised an uprising among the starving people of western Liaoning, taking to the mountains and making themselves their own masters. They drove out local tyrants, punished corrupt soldiers, and rescued ordinary people from suffering. Later, when the Japanese occupied Manchuria, the Fengtian Army proved powerless against the invaders. Famine spread across western Liaoning, and the people were left struggling to survive. In this chaotic age, bandit chief Jin Buhuan and other heroes fought the enemy with their lives. The Laoha River ran red with blood as they dealt the ambitious wolves a crushing blow. Their deeds are stirring and deeply moving.
Though we live in peaceful times today, we must never forget the heroes who came before us. Let history be our guide, and let its warning bells ring on!
A fine book, worth reading, the writing is delicate and full of wit. Highly recommended
