The New Boys

In this world, superheroes are products, justice is an advertising slogan, and ordinary people… are just expenses.

Chen Xiao quickly learned the iron law of this world of The Boys. His family had been written off as an “optimized” expense by Vought International. One carefully staged explosion was all it took to turn a happy transmigrator into a homeless man beneath a bridge.

Hatred for Vought was the only fuel he had left. And the fuel happened to be a dangerous “failed” compound that had washed out of the sewers. Inject it, and he might die; don’t inject it, and he would certainly die. He chose to embrace the unknown mutation.

His power awakened: control over the atmosphere. At first, it seemed utterly harmless.

Until he discovered that the vacuum bubbles that could make mosquitoes pass out could also deprive a superhuman brain of oxygen; that a breeze strong enough to lift a scrap of paper could, when compressed to the limit, slice through alloy.

He found Butcher, a man who hated superhumans to the core and had no qualms about using any dirty trick. The team wasn’t keen on adding another “superpowered freak,” but Chen Xiao brought more than just his ability: he also carried the forbidden secrets of Vought’s core laboratory.

This was an uneven war. On one side was a multinational giant that controlled the media, the law, and even the gods; on the other, a team hiding in the shadows, made up of paranoiacs, murderers, and an avenger who had only just learned to “breathe.”

The first lesson Chen Xiao had to learn was this: if you want to overthrow the gods, you have to become even more ruthless than they are.

Air is everywhere, and he would become the silent, inescapable reaper of the Vought Empire.
