Seven-year-old Ling Yun was a carefree child from Qingshi Village until a massacre shattered its peace. Seeking the ancient treasure known as the Hongmeng Pearl, the Wushen Sect slaughtered the entire village, and his adoptive parents died protecting him. As Ling Yun lay on the brink of death, the Perfected Qingxuan of the Lingxiao Sect saved him and revealed his shocking origins: he was the orphaned son of Lingxiao Sword Immortal Ling Xiaotian and Nangong Wan, the legitimate daughter of the Nangong Clan.
Born with a Chaos Spiritual Root, a legendary talent, and carrying a mysterious jade pendant engraved with the character “Yun,” Ling Yun joins the Lingxiao Sect and embarks on a path of cultivation and revenge. He comprehends sword intent in the Sword Tomb, faces life and death in secret realms, and masters the Purple Heaven Thunderclap Sword and the Chaos Heavenly Evolution Art, rapidly advancing his cultivation. Yet danger is never far away: Mu Ying, an assassin from the Shadow Pavilion, stalks him relentlessly; a traitor within the Nangong Clan covets its inheritance; and the Wushen Sect closes in. Every faction is after the Hongmeng Pearl and the secrets of the Nangong Clan.
To purge the shadow poison from his body, Ling Yun and his companions venture deep into the Corroded Bone Swamp of the southern frontier. They survive terrifying will-o'-the-wisps, a crocodile king blocking their way, and disorienting miasma shadows, and successfully obtain the Shadow-Cleansing Glazed Flower. But they accidentally trigger an ancient formation belonging to the Nangong Clan and glimpse secrets of an even deeper inheritance. As the mystery of his origins gradually unravels, the truth behind his parents' deaths, the whereabouts of the Hongmeng Pearl, and the surging undercurrents of the cultivation world all propel him toward the heart of the storm.
This is a cultivation journey of seeking the Dao through the sword, with vengeance as its catalyst. Ling Yun must hold fast to his principles amid clashes between good and evil, protect his companions from the forces closing in on all sides, and uncover a feud spanning three generations. How will he unlock the potential of his Chaos Spiritual Root? Will the secret of the Hongmeng Pearl be revealed? Watch as the young Ling Yun breaks through the impasse with his sword, is reborn amid blood and fire, and carves out a sword path of his own through the mortal world.
