When I Say I Hate You, I Mean Forever

The first heartfelt “I hate you” Xu Hansu ever said was to Zhou Jinyang, the only person who had never looked down on her. She thought it was just something said in anger, but he took it to heart and disappeared for three years.

When they met again, she apologized awkwardly, and he accepted in silence. They promised to be “good friends for life,” yet kept pulling at each other between “I hate you” and “I care about you.” The more she cared, the more she said the opposite; the more he hurt, the quieter he became. It wasn't until he died saving her that she realized the childhood “I hate you” had long since become a prophecy of fate: when he said he was leaving, he meant he would be gone forever; when she said she hated him, she meant she would love him forever.
