Li Yunlong Transmigrates to the Past, Where Chao Gai Builds an Independent Regiment at Liangshan

After Li Yunlong takes his own life during the Cultural Revolution, he transmigrates to the Song dynasty and finds himself in the body of Liangshan chief Chao Gai, who has just been struck by an arrow. He has even brought four grenades along, hanging from his waist. He does away with Chao Gai's timid nature and manages the Liangshan brothers the way Li Yunlong ran his Independent Regiment. He leads them in robbing the rich to help the poor, dividing up land and grain, and waging a head-on struggle against the capitulationist Song Jiang. He builds a battle-hardened force, the Liangshan Independent Regiment, as well as three large arsenals specializing in grenades, pistols and rifles, and cotton uniforms and quilts. Their weapons and clothing are upgraded, and they become a heroic force in the wars against the Jin and Liao. Gao Qiu and other capitulationist ministers are forced to bow in submission. The people welcome the army with food and drink, lining the roads to cheer them on, and enlist in droves. At one point, the force swells to 500,000. Even the Song emperor shows him great deference and proposes handing the throne to Chao Gai. Female generals such as Hu Sanniang and Sun Erniang admire Cao Gai's talent and courage, and each offers herself to him. Gao Yuanyuan, Gao Qiu's daughter, is the Song emperor's personally appointed top scholar in both civil and military arts, and the most beautiful woman in the land. Disgusted by her father and brother's actions and sympathetic to the poor, she stands up for justice on behalf of the common people. When she accompanies her father, Gao Qiu, on an expedition against Liangshan's stronghold, she sees Chao Gai and falls in love at first sight. She thinks of him day and night, longing to spend her life with him. In the end, Chao Gai refuses the throne and rejects the imperial order to suppress Fang La's uprising. He takes the entire regiment by ship to the great island of Ryukyu in the Pacific, where they will build a new future. When Gao Yuanyuan hears the news, she spurs her horse to the shore, dives into the sea, and swims toward the ship, vowing to live or die with Chao Gai.
