The Spring That Never Came, When the Magnolia Blooms

When she was fifteen, Su Nian'an met Lin Wuyang in the old library.

He was the study partner who understood her best, and the secret she hid deepest. From sunlight in the library to the schoolyard's first snow, from burying a time capsule to painting a whale on an old wall, they promised to go to Tsinghua together and see every place on the world map.

“If I turn into a whale and sink to the bottom of the sea,” he said with a smile, “you still have to swim toward the light.”

“If life is an exam, I got this question right: I poured my whole heart into writing your name.”

It turns out the longest goodbye is living a whole life in the shape of two people's dream.

And spring will arrive at last, in another form.
