Investiture of the Gods: Ne Zha’s Cherished Lotus Root Takes Human Form

[Investiture of the Gods setting] Nezha x Lian Nuo

(Investiture of the Gods) Nezha: Proud, unruly, and full of youthful spirit x Lian Nuo: Bold and devoted to the people

After a bloody battle in the South Sea, Nezha accidentally picked up a piece of lotus root he had left behind years ago when he remade his body from lotus, Lian Nuo. She gained spiritual awareness from his blood and became the silent witness to his past, as well as the first glimmer of light to shine into his life.

“If I don't go to hell, who will?”

“But if you yourself are my hell, then for you, I will burn the heavens once more.”

P.S. The heroine is unconventional. She's a lotus root transformed into human form, strong-willed rather than meek, and admires strength without feeling inferior. She doesn't rely on a golden finger. Her transformation requires her to survive a trial between life and death. She's no naive, sugary-sweet heroine, but has an independent mind and a character arc.
