Lighthearted and funny. Zhou Qing transmigrates into the Tang dynasty and lands right in the middle of the Treaty of the Wei River. Facing 200,000 Turkic cavalry and Li Shimin, who has only six riders at his side, he silently pulls out his phone and a skill set belonging to the Heavenly Emperor of Desolation, with effects cranked to the max but power reduced by 99%.
"Are you retreating, or not?!" A golden dragon's phantom coils behind Zhou Qing, thundercloud effects roar overhead, and he holds a cup of chilled cola in his hand.
The Turkic Khan: "...Retreat! We'll retreat!"
Li Shimin: "Immortal Master, please become the State Preceptor of the Tang!"
And so, history's most unserious State Preceptor makes his debut.
Others govern through political schemes. Zhou Qing governs by making a spectacle of everything. The launch of the curved-plow gets a dazzling golden light show; the opening ceremony for a blast furnace is blessed with heavenly auspices; and the national bond launch features a performance of "Good Luck Is Coming." He tears into conservatives at court, beats corrupt officials black and blue at construction sites, and invites Li Shimin to eat hotpot at his villa, complete with a soundtrack.
When Turkic envoys visit again, they see rows of water-powered trip hammers outside Chang'an, steel plows racing across the fields, and the State Preceptor setting off fireworks on the palace roof in a pair of Air Jordans. They quietly revise their diplomatic letter: "Your Majesty, esteemed Khan of Heaven, we merely wish to... offer some local specialties."
Li Shimin gazes at mountains of copper coins in the treasury, overflowing granaries, and the newly issued fine-steel Tang swords, lost in thought. "My dear subject, what other surprises do you have that I don't know about?"
Zhou Qing pulls out a book titled Five-Year Development, Three-Year Plan. "Your Majesty, our next step is to build a railway!"
Pretending to be struck by lightning... Empress Changsun suddenly disappeared... In the middle and late period of Zhenguan, Taizong was the only one... He didn't see any of his sons... Li Shimin was not excited at all when he saw Wu Zhaoyi...
The title of the book has been changed! "Across the Tang Dynasty and the 21st Century Cows and Horses"
