The 1960s Supply Cooperative: Buying and Stockpiling Goods to Support the Whole Family

In 1960, famine and natural disasters ravaged the land, and everyone relied on ration coupons to get by. Lin Xiu'e transmigrated into the body of a woman working at a state-owned factory. She lived in a tenement with barely anything to her name, counting ration coupons at the end of each month. Then a "Buy-It-All Shopping Group" suddenly appeared in her mind. She could earn points by answering questions and solving problems, then exchange them for rice, flour, cooking oil, fabric, and medicine. She exchanged goods discreetly, hid them under her bed, and quietly supplemented the household's supplies. When relatives mooched off her and coworkers grew envious, she used the supply-and-marketing cooperative to keep things moving, talking her way through every situation. With her golden finger, she kept her whole family fed and quietly built up a fortune. No romance, just a focus on building a career: she rose to become the richest family in the tenement.
