Synopsis
Lin Xiao, a master chef's apprentice trained by a chef who cooks for state banquets, wakes up in a magical world, trapped aboard a battered ship.
To stay alive, he signs a contract of indenture with the captain. He'll spend the rest of his life adrift at sea, never allowed to leave the ship.
The food aboard is fit for pigs, and the crew have been chewing on dry rations for three months. With no other choice, Lin Xiao starts cooking with a rusty pot, a dull knife, and strange ingredients brimming with wild magical energy.
He slices and stir-fries the meat of a Riftscale Beast, making its magic mellow and delicious. He simmers the bones of a Silverfin into a thick porridge so savory the crew nearly weep. Even an unwanted monster bone becomes a pot of steaming broth that warms everyone aboard to the core.
Gradually, the crew realize that this barefoot young cook in his pajamas can use the most ordinary ingredients to make the most irresistible thing in the world:
The taste of home.
Lin Xiao also slowly realizes that the ship holding him captive seems to be “watching” him in some strange way.
[Food · Life at Sea · Survival in Another World · Slow-Burn Wish Fulfillment]
It's a slow burner, so it's not suitable for everyone, but the writing is good, so it's perfect for reading when you can't sleep in the middle of the night. I don't give five stars because I don't want so many people to see it. After all, not everyone likes this style 😄 (PS: The author is deeply sorry > people <)
How should I put it? As a new book, I don't have many reviews. Fortunately, there aren't many, so I was able to read it all. Many people say it smells like AI, and some people like it. Everyone feels differently. I don't see the AI flavor. Maybe I haven't read enough books, so I can only express my own thoughts. To be honest, the more I read it, the more I felt it was talking about one thing, living. To live, one must eat. Only after eating can one live. Some people die while eating, but everyone is bound to die, right? Maybe my understanding is too shallow, but every time I see "I have to eat tomorrow" at the end of a chapter, I always feel that maybe there is something for people to live for. The cook is to cook and eat, just like the pond fire written by Chi Zijian on the right bank of the Ergun River.
So far, it's pretty good. There are no uncomfortable chapters. A cook is a cook, and he is also a cook after time travel. There is no golden finger, no destiny, no pretentiousness, and no scheming. I used to like to read books about solving crimes or horror, but now I read this book which is dull but also good-looking. I don't know what the future development will be like. At present, it is good-looking!
The narrative is quite bland, I don't know what to say? Is it true that it's ordinary? Perhaps. I think it's pretty cool. What can a cook do? Just cooking. At first, when I read the introduction, I thought it was another novel about people being praised for their cooking skills, but after reading it carefully, I found it has a different flavor? But now that the ship is destroyed and Gray is dead, the protagonist still has a long way to go. Isn't that what life is like? Ups and downs
Although I probably won't read it again, it's a bit boring to me, but the author's writing is really good [sending my heart][sending my heart][sending my heart]
It's beautiful, has a very dreamy and wonderful feeling
It's great to watch, the plot is sweet and there's no intrigue.
Yes, the story structure is very good and the future is promising.
So beautiful
This book is quite good, but it is more like AI. At first glance, the writing style and writing style are quite good, but when I read it, it always gave me an unreal feeling, not like it was written by a real person.
