Ode to Joy I

[Clear-headed, highly intelligent, and exceptionally charismatic heroines; an overseas returnee; a wealthy heiress; women supporting one another]

Fan Shengmei, Guan Ju'er, and Qiu Yingying have come to Shanghai from elsewhere to make their way in the world. The three young women share an apartment on the 22nd floor of an ordinary residential complex called Ode to Joy with Andy, a highly intelligent, well-paid professional who has returned from overseas, and Qu Xiaoxiao, a charismatic heiress. The five women have very different personalities, and each faces her own troubles and disappointments at work, in love, and at home. They meet as neighbors and gradually get to know one another, moving from suspicion to acceptance and learning to open their hearts. Together, they tackle the many problems and dilemmas in their lives, witnessing each other's growth and transformation in Shanghai, the “magical metropolis.”
