A Great Confucian Scholar in the Modern World: Defending Teachers and Fighting Exploitation

Zheng Qi, the only female doctoral scholar at the Imperial College of the Great Yong, transmigrates one day into the body of a modern teacher who gets pushed around! Here, the dignity of teachers is trampled underfoot: taking leave means losing pay, research projects are used to hold promotions hostage, and county-managed hiring has become a tool of power. Parents abuse the complaint system, principals seek personal gain, and formalism runs rampant. How could Zheng Qi, who carries the ancient teachings of the scholar-teachers, put up with this? Drawing on the backbone of a great scholar from antiquity, she takes on the crisis head-on: she revamps the classroom with the Six Arts approach and uses her teaching record to face-slap those who believe research projects are everything; she forms a close-knit group of friends to gather dirt and joins forces with the media to expose abuses of power; and she pushes for revised evaluation rules so that "fostering virtue and nurturing talent" can return to the heart of education. From an elementary school in an urban village to the national education stage, Zheng Qi champions teachers' dignity, fights exploitation, and takes aim at abuses. As ancient and modern educational ideas collide, she not only wins justice for teachers, but also reshapes the modern education system, writing a warm yet fiery tale of a teacher's comeback!
