Lord of the Mysteries: From Serial Killer to Queen of the Tarot Club

The protagonist is the “Empress” of the Tarot Club, a Beyonder with sequences from two Outer Gods, and a madman who will stop at nothing to exact revenge.

He was an archaeology PhD during the Oldest One era. After an accident while translating ancient texts, he learned a truth humanity was never meant to know: “They fear bugs.” The sequences above the gods are called the Oldest One, and learning this drew the gaze of hidden beings.

But witnessing his mother’s gruesome death when he was six nearly ruined his entire life. So he traded his own life for a chance at revenge. He made a wish to an Outer God for an eye that could see through all evil, and a heart that would keep him alive as long as it continued to beat. The one who answered was a dead Oldest One, the “Lord of the End,” or perhaps the “Reveler at the End,” the “Foundation of the World,” the “One Who Reduces All Things to Zero,” the “God of Humanity and the World.” The price was that he would become a vessel for the Oldest One’s descent.

“I don’t know much about this Oldest One. I only know that he was once human, and that he was sealed after being killed by two even more powerful Oldest Ones. I don’t know what kind of being he is. I only know that once the bargain is struck, I will own nothing, not even myself, until the end of the world he spoke of arrives. To me, that’s a pretty good ending.” He wrote this sentence at the end of his notes, then picked up his pistol and pushed open the door.
