"Who's Yearning for Whose Life" tells the story of Lin Shen and Su Qing, a couple with very different values, from divorcing due to differences in ideas to each exploring the essence of life in the city and the mountains.
Lin Shen sticks to the mountains and forests and lives a simple life at the forest ranger station. He uses his hands to knit warmth for his son Xiaoyu: knitting sweaters, making wooden toys, and telling natural stories. Su Qing pursues her career in the city, but feels empty amid material abundance. Her son's essay "Mom's Home Has No Stars" wakes her up.
