On every quick transmigration journey, the female lead collects fragments of the male lead's soul. When the male lead, still missing a sliver of his heavenly soul, wakes up, he acts like an emotionless machine.
Male lead: “Who are you? Stay away from me.”
Female lead: “Fine, fine. So you turn your back on me and pretend not to know me? I have no interest in you anyway. I’ll shine all on my own.”
But with every encounter between them, the male lead can’t help drawing closer to her, and her reactions send his emotions on a roller coaster. This discovery awakens feelings for her that he never expected, until he can’t get enough of her. So much for being a distant, icy CEO. So much for keeping his distance.
Later, after his soul returns to him, the male lead is completely at her mercy, his face full of abject pleading. “Xinxin, can’t you just pretend everything I said was a fart and let it go?”
Female lead: “No. A man has to keep his word.”
Much later, after enduring humiliation and overcoming one obstacle after another to finally win the beauty of his dreams, the male lead says, “Xinxin, just let me carry you. Don’t get down. It’s so hard to find a wife these days. What if I let go and someone steals you away?”
This book suits my taste for the time being, and I really like it personally
