My name is Han Chunlin. I'm Mongolian, from Horqin Right Middle Banner. The saying "Three southern sumus and eight northern townships" is well known in Xing'an League, and it refers to the area around my hometown. Those unfamiliar with it might ask: Why would a Mongolian person, instead of choosing a distinctly ethnic name like Bayar or Qiaoketu, go by such a shallow and cliched sinicized "nickname"? The truth is, I've wondered about that myself for a long time, especially during my time in Hohhot, where I searched high and low for an answer. After all that effort, I think I've finally figured it out. So, on my own authority, I changed my name and surname once and for all. From now on, please call me Munkh Sodo.
