1988: The Three Beasts’ Graduation Exam

In 1988, three “transfer students” arrived in a mountain village in Guangxi: a tiger, a wolf, and a snake. They ran on all fours, solved one plus one with calculus, and did their exercises with a snake-like wriggle. Across more than half a million words of laughter and tears, they cause a ruckus from Danding Village to Beijing, from elementary school classrooms to the Myriad Demons Hall. Two hundred years later, the three beasts have become Demon Emperors. They reunite on the long steps of the cultivation world, with their master here, their family by their side, and plenty of cured meat to go around.

They shed their beastly nature and, at last, find their humanity.
