I Transmigrated to the Eighties as a Cannon-Fodder Extra, and I’ll Protect the Foolish One

[Transmigration] [Period] [Face-slapping and putting scumbags in their place] [Strong female lead] [Clear-headed heroine] [No golden finger]

Song Tingting finally has a weekend off and spends the whole day at home reading a novel. But the next morning, when she wakes up, she discovers she’s transmigrated into the book she read the night before, and she’s the kind of minor cannon fodder character who only survives for one chapter and appears in fewer than twenty words.

She’s barely arrived when her own parents decide to marry her off to an old widower who beats his wives, all for a bride price of 120 yuan.

What can she do? Run!

She figures that as a worker from the twenty-first century, there must be somewhere she can make a living.

But escaping isn’t easy. She hasn’t gone far before she’s caught and dragged back, then beaten.

If she can’t get away the first time, she’ll try again. Her second escape finally succeeds. She wants to go far away, but without any identification papers, she can barely get anywhere.

If she goes back, she’ll surely be married off to the old widower. If she doesn’t, she’ll end up starving on the streets, and things could get even worse.

Just when she’s at her wits’ end, a man appears. With an innocent, kind smile, he sees her in such a sorry state and unhesitatingly gives her the sweet potato in his hand.

Lu Mingyu: “Sis, are you hungry? I have a sweet potato. Hurry and eat it. Then you won’t be hungry anymore.”

Song Tingting: “Thank you!”

They’re both cannon fodder, so they might as well stick together and help each other survive. Staying alive means there’s hope, and they won’t just survive, they’ll make a good life for themselves.

She offers to marry him. So what if he’s a simpleton? He’s guileless and obedient. Later, she discovers he’s getting smarter and more protective of her. The simpleton isn’t so simple.
