I Handed Over Future Technology

The day I was diagnosed with a terminal illness, I received the testament of a civilization from a hundred years in the future.

Every week, in my dreams, I have to master a piece of world-changing black technology, at the cost of what little time I have left to live.

And so I became the anonymous “Suirenshi,” submitting one future technology after another to my country.

Super batteries, room-temperature superconductors, quantum chips... My country surged forward, while my life silently counted down.

Until the nation finally found me. The female officer sent to “arrest” me took my medical records with tears in her eyes:

“From now on, your life is no longer your own.”

“It belongs to the country...”

“And to me.”

Later, an alien civilization sent a test to decide humanity's fate. When the whole world was powerless, I, bedridden and unable to rise, took command.

“Don't be afraid,” I told her as she sobbed uncontrollably. “This is the last gift I'll submit...”

That day, the entire solar system shone for one person.

He used the flame of civilization to light humanity's path to the stars.
