"Datang: The Wind Rises in Anxi" is a historical time travel novel set in the Western Regions of the late Tang Dynasty. The story begins in AD 790. Li Xuan, a modern archaeologist, traveled through time while excavating the ruins of the Anxi Protectorate in Xinjiang and became a descendant of the down-and-out Tang clan of the same name, living in the isolated city of Qiuci, which was besieged by the Tibetans. He is responsible for the "Chinese civilization inheritance system" and is determined to save the crisis.
