Tracing Bones: My Corpse-Retrieval Skills Expose Folk-Custom Murders

Everyone along the Huai River fears me. They call Jiang Wan the “soul-snatching corpse retriever,” saying that what I haul up isn't a body, but an evil thing that brings calamity.

But they don't know I'm not retrieving evil things. I'm uncovering the truth hidden beneath folk legends:

The bite marks on the corpse of the woman said to have been “drained dry by a ghost child” were made by a human.

The belly of the “murderous Fortune-Blessing Buddha Mother” concealed the victim's will.

Even the corpse tied with a red cord that Grandpa repeatedly warned me never to retrieve before he died was just a ruse: the killer used the old custom of “the River God taking a bride” to hide the body.

Now another corpse has drifted onto the river, clutching a domino carved with my name. Looks like this time, the killer wants to have a good “talk” with me, a corpse retriever, about the dirty secrets behind these folk customs.
